This role requires in-person hours Tuesday-Saturday and will include some evenings and Sundays based on program and overall schedule and needs.

PAY RANGE                      $65,000-80,000

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Learning and Engagement Manager plans and executes a comprehensive, dynamic, and fun suite of classes and workshops as well as after school, camp, and community outreach programs. This role is responsible for shaping an innovative and comprehensive arts education program that is creative and forward-thinking and responds to true community needs. This role will focus on increasing the animation of the Arts District Campus by spearheading new methods for aiding residents and visitors and diverse audiences of all ages in the understanding of art through joyful learning experiences. This position is part of a dynamic, inclusive, and creative team that is committed to creating memorable arts experiences for all.

This role requires in-person hours Tuesday-Saturday and will include some evenings and Sundays based on program and overall schedule and needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

CLASSES, WORKSHOPS, CAMPS AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

  • Develop curricula and content for all classes and workshops with input from the extended program team, the creative community and in strong consideration of community needs.
  • Identify, recruit, train, manage and mentor all Instructors, creative partners, camp counselors, part time staff and interns as needed.
  • Manage the Ceramics Studio Technician, and open studio techs
  • Execute, manage and track paperwork for all incoming and existing instructors.
  • Process Instructor payroll at the end of each month.
  • Create all website and descriptive content for each program, with strict adherence to the marketing timeline, and work with the External Relations team on promotional strategies for all programs.
  • Work closely with the Summit School district on developing and expanding after school and wrap around care programs.
  • Expand the existing summer camp offerings to better support community needs.
  • Develop and execute additional programing and community engagement opportunities when requested.
  • Schedule, plan and manage all instructor info sessions.
  • integrate and expand wellness, music, literary arts, and culinary arts initiatives to current programs.
  • Develop new programs that cater to and inspire the life-long learning community.  
  • Create family interpretive activities to support exhibitions and festival programming.
  • Promote inclusive and equitable practices in program design and facilitation; promote cultural responsiveness practice; and support diverse language learners.
  • Develop workshops and programs for private groups and parties.
  • Stay abreast of trends and best practices in the arts education field and industry.
  • Provide on-site support for all Arts District programming as needed.
  • Fully support the Programs Team with any changes to offerings, operations and responsibilities that may be required.
  • Work with the Senior Director of Programs + Campus Experience on the evaluation and potential reshaping of the existing Artist in Residence programs.
  • Regularly evaluate all classes/workshops, school programs, camps, field trips and community outreach activities and recommend changes that reflect thorough evaluation.
  • Assist with the creation and coordination of departmental presentations, press materials, and written information pertaining to departmental projects when requested.
  • Develop and maintain budget details for all classes and workshops, school programs, camps and community outreach programs and review regular income and expense reports to ensure accuracy. 
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of programming surveys and facilities usage reporting.
  • Monitor Arts District programs on a quarterly basis, including gathering and analyzing qualitative and quantitative statistics to be used in program evaluation, reports, and grant and funding proposals.
  • Provide on-site support for all Arts District programming, including but not limited to opening receptions, Artist talks, festivals, field trips, etc.
  • Fully support the Programs Team with any changes to offerings, operations and responsibilities that may be required.
  • Plan and oversee a minimum of two (2), studio organization and clean up days per year.
  • Conduct walkthroughs with the Facilities Manager to ensure all studio spaces are clean, organized and ready for public engagement.
  • BA in art history, museum studies, cultural studies, art education or similar
  • 3+ years of progressive arts and/or education experience working in art centers, museums and/or other cultural institutions
  • Extensive knowledge and first-hand experience in the visual arts; broad knowledge and appreciation of broad range of disciplines, in both national and international platforms
  • Experience in customer service is a strong benefit

  • Oversee planning of Block Party arts activities.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
  • Serve as an advocate for Breck Create locally and regionally with a high degree of integrity and professionalism. 
  • Identify and facilitate collaborative opportunities with Breckenridge, Summit County, and regional arts organizations. 
  • Develop and manage a database of local creatives and local community organizations.
EVALUATION & REPORTING
  • Regularly evaluate all classes/workshops, school programs, camps, field trips and community outreach activities and recommend changes that reflect thorough evaluation.
  • Assist with the creation and coordination of departmental presentations, press materials, and written information pertaining to departmental projects when requested.
  • Develop and maintain budget details for all classes and workshops, school programs, camps and community outreach programs and review regular income and expense reports to ensure accuracy.

  • Assist in preparing funding requests, grant proposals and reports that support innovative programming, research opportunities and community partnerships.
ARTS DISTRICT FACILITY MANAGEMENT
  • Plan and oversee a minimum of two (2), studio organization and clean up days per year. 
  •  Conduct walkthroughs with the Facilities Manager to ensure all studio spaces are clean, organized and ready for public engagement.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

This role requires in-person hours Tuesday-Saturday and will include some evenings and Sundays based on program and overall schedule and needs.

Additional candidate experience and qualities may include:

  • BA in art history, museum studies, cultural studies, art education or similar

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Although primarily administrative, this position often requires walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. This position also requires hearing to accurately understand information at normal spoken word levels in a potentially loud environment and visual observation for reviewing, checking, preparing, and maintaining written and computer files. Manual dexterity is required to operate standard office, data entry, and related studio equipment.
